At 307 Draft Horse Rescue, our mission is built on the belief that the bond between a human and a 2,000-pound animal is a catalyst for profound change. We don't just "rescue" horses; we facilitate partnerships that allow both horse and human to find their next mission.
RECALIBRATION over Rehabilitation
We believe that no one who walks through our gates—human or equine—is "broken"
Rehabilitation implies a return to a former state; Recalibration is about adjusting for the future. We focus on fine-tuning our internal compass, building resilience, and preparing for the next chapter of life with a steady hand.
The Art of Holding Space
A Draft horse does not judge, and neither do we. To "hold space" means providing a safe, non-judgmental environment where individuals can experience their own emotions without the pressure to be "fixed"; our horses are masters of presence; they offer a massive, grounded anchor that allows humans the room to simply be.
All Healing is Self-Healing
We do not claim to heal anyone. We believe that the power to change, grow, and recover resides entirely within the individual. Our role—and the role of our horses—is to provide the sanctuary and the feedback necessary for that internal work to happen. We provide the tools; you provide the strength.
Mutual Stewardship
Draft horses have spent centuries as the "heavy lifters" of the world. We honor that history of service through meticulous care and respect. In our programs, stewardship is a two-way street: as we care for the physical needs of these gentle giants, they provide the emotional grounding we need to navigate our own lives.
Authentic Presence
A horse knows if you are being honest long before you say a word. We value "presence in the pen";—the practice of being fully grounded in the moment. By matching the slow, intentional rhythm of a Draft horse, we learn to quiet the noise of the outside world and operate from a place of authenticity.
Grit and Grace
Life in the 307 requires a specific kind of toughness, but true strength is found in the balance of grit and grace. We celebrate the hard work of the barn—the "dirt therapy"—while maintaining a deep, soft compassion for the journeys of those we serve.

"The horse does not provide the answers; it provides the silence necessary
for you to hear your own".
